PAPERMAKING OUT OF RECYCLED MATERIALS FOR VALENTINES DAY
     - January 29th, 2014
 
Wednesday, January 29th, 2014 - 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM
We will explore the ancient methods of papermaking using every day, off the shelf products and recycled materials to make artful 8 1/2" x 11" sheets of unique paper just in time for Valentine's Day. Please bring with you dryer lint, glitter, ribbons, yarns, and other materials to be incorporated in your one of-a-kind papers. Papermaking tools will be provided. Rebecca is a KCAI graduate in ceramics with a minor in fiber. Please send $25 to cover materials to Back Door Pottery.

Gathering the pulp on the deckle and frame.
 
Laying the leaf (sheet) on a wet felt pad
 
Putting a new felt on top, ready for another leaf.
 
   
 
First pressing of the stack of leafs to remove water.
 
Preparing more decorative materials to ad to the paper pulp.
 
   
 
Taking the pressed paper and laying out to dry
 
 
   
 
Using a pottery slab roller to press out the remaining water.
