Meet the Artist
Rebecca A. Koop is the founder and artist behind Back Door Pottery, a working ceramics studio in Kansas City’s historic Scarritt Renaissance neighborhood. She established the studio in 1979 and has taught professionally since 1980.
Rebecca creates functional kitchenware in stoneware, porcelain, and terra cotta, and is known for her playful, colorful koi fish designs. She also produces tile, mosaics, and Egyptian paste faience. Her work is featured in specialty shops and galleries throughout Kansas City.
