Wood Fire Raku and Handbuilding
Overview
This two-part class walks you through the full Raku experience — from shaping your piece to firing it in a live kiln.
Day One:
You’ll learn basic hand-building techniques and create your own piece from clay.
Day Two:
You’ll glaze your work and fire it in a wood-fired Raku kiln. Be prepared to cut some wood. You’ll also help stoke the fire and bring the kiln to nearly 2,000°F, then watch as your pieces are pulled out glowing red-hot and cooled in the open air.
You’ll leave with one-of-a-kind pottery, finished the same day.
Egyptian Paste Faience
Overview
Discover Egyptian Paste (also known as faience) — a colored self-glazing clay fired to 1900°F. This 3,000-year-old process creates vibrant, glass-like finishes without traditional glazing.
In the first session, you’ll learn marbling, forming, and molding techniques, then create your own beads or ornaments.
In the final session, you’ll assemble your fired pieces into a finished design you can take home.
Wood Fired Raku Experience
Build it. Fire it. Take it home.
An experience you won’t forget. In this two-day workshop, you’ll shape your own piece, glaze it, and fire it in a Raku kiln — then leave with your own finished work of art.
